AreA 51 r2

Can anyone suggest a solution here.?

area 51 r2

i7 5930k

32 gb crucial ddr4 2666/2133/2400

2x titanx (pascal)

256gb ssd/4tb hdd @5400

I updated to A12 bios. Replaced the cpu/processor with a 6900k Broadwell, Turned on the machine..No beeps

seemed to startup ok, but to signal to the display.

So I reinstalled the 5930k to see if cpu/processor was just having a problem, so still no signal to the display. (worked fine before!)

Now I'm confused. So performed RAM removal-check for beeps, Beeped ok. Then removed video cards- no beeps.

AW tech support says this is strange as well, Proceeds to a level 3 escalation and tries the upgrade on their machine

(just like mine). Tells me theirs is Fine. And recommends I replace my MotherBoard. (which is now on its way).

I am just a Hobbyist and still have my laptop , but I read a lot of forums b4 I decided to switch processors and am surprised to find I've done something wrong.

your Replacement Motherboard Died after you installed the 6900K as well? in that Case i would say your new CPU was probably DOA. i agree. keep the Original CPU. i'm so glad i didn't try to replace my 5820K now. i don't need the Troubles TBH. is your new Board Hardware Revision 01 again?

Hi.

hmm... Bent CPU Socket Pins maybe?

your old CPU was Overclocked, right?

disconnect all Cables and remove the Coin Cell Battery, then hold the Power On Button for 30 Sce.

you should always do that after you changed the Hardware Configuration.

Right.  I did a reset CMOS, (unplugged, switch pin for a few seconds, switch back. The instructions never said power on with the cmos mode pin in 1-2 -reset. I thought it did last time I reset cmos. )   But all the cables ?  like the keyboard, mouse etc right- not the inside power cables...?  I didn't remove the coin cell though..

correct. disconnect all external Cables (USB, HDMI, Power Cord), remove the Battery and then hold the Power On Button for 30 Sec. after doing this your old BIOS Settings are gone and all the Power left in your System is out. it allows you to start from Scratch.

Sockets 2011 and 2011-3 are Physically Incompatible. the Layout is different. the 6900K is 2011-3, no Doubt!

is your Liquid Cooler connected properly? maybe that's why it wont Boot?

for Example, i know that the Auroras will not Boot if the CPU Cooler is not detected. maybe it's the same with Area 51.

you are right, the Board should Beep if something is missing. all 3rd Party Boards do that. but who knows what happens with the Area 51. it didn't Beep when i replaced the RAM and one of the Modules was not seated properly. it stuck in a Boot Loop instead.

Thanks for the response, but I did what u mentioned and its a no fix.  I think mayB the lack of warning beeps for vid cards might indicate the MB is really damaged.  I cannot see it happened over a couple hours but mayB if the old OC did not clear.  Ill have another look at the socket pins, but It was a very delicate swap, I doubt that too lol.

Weird too how the 6950x and the 5930k advertise 2011v3, and the 6900k  says  2011 socket.  All say this is nothing.if the bios is programmed for the swap.

This I can see that since I had the 5930, the 6900 fits the socket.. And they wont fit upside down in the socket..

The 6900k is sold at Aw for area 51 r2.. so the level 3 guys at TechSupport proved it too when they did what I am attempting to do  and They can do it.  My Ram makes beeps if removed.. of course that doen't mean GPU cards are going to,  just what the Tech guy says it should  They get paid lol

Y  cooler is all  plugged in,  its rotated some where the pump sits on top of the cpu,  but it should be cool anyway, right?

U can't  install the cpu "wrong"  its a drop in and only fits  one way!

right. thats how i have it.

it's really weird. the Board Beeps without RAM so it's actually still Alive.

you can try to Boot with Bare Minimum. one RAM Modul installed, all Drives,   Internal USB and Audio Cables and Sensors disconnected. you have to disconnect the Cables when the new Board arrives anyway so you can Start doing it now.

the 6900K should work.

if you can't Boot with Bare Minimum (see my Post below), then your Board is Dead.

So the HardDrive activity light on the rear of the machine. .. What color is it supposed to be during startup?

July 15th, 2017 07:00

ha! mine does nothing. it never lights up. i didn't even know it was there until you asked. so i went and turned on my A51 to see what Color it was.... lol

Edit:

it is probably because my Toshiba HDD is disconnected and my Boot Drive is an M2 SSD.
